🌿 Thanks Always — To Whom?
By Mary Wells
Share
We give thanks.
Not just when things are going well. Not only when we understand the outcome. And not because we owe anyone anything.
We give thanks because we know where our help truly comes from.
We give thanks because we recognize that in every good and perfect gift, there is a deeper Source.
And that Source is the Lord.
We live in a time where promises are common but follow-through is rare. People say, "I've got you," until you actually need them. They offer support, but when pressure hits, many retreat.
But not the Lord.
He is constant. Steady. Faithful.
He doesn't say He has your back — He shows you, over and over again.
He doesn't run when things get hard — He draws closer.
So before we thank the person who dropped off groceries... Before we thank the one who prayed for us or opened a door...
Let’s thank the One who moved through them.
Let’s thank the Source before the resource.
💡 Clarity in Thanks:
People are channels.
God is the Source.
People may be used to carry the blessing, but they are not the origin of it.
"The world and all that is in it belong to the Lord; the earth and all who live on it are his."
— Psalm 24:1 (Good News Bible)
We must be careful not to give more glory to the mail carrier than to the One who sent the package.
When people remind you of what they did for you, smile with grace. Because while they were willing, it was God who appointed them.
And when others leave, grow silent, or shift? God remains. Always.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
— Hebrews 13:8 (Good News Bible)
He does not change with moods, moments, or seasons.
🌿 Thanks Always to the Lord
There are moments in life when all we have left is gratitude. Not because everything feels good, but because God is still good.
We thank Him because He’s present when no one else is. We thank Him because He provides what no job or person can. We thank Him because He protects us from what we see — and from what we never knew was coming.
And above all, we thank Him because He keeps His Word.
"But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
— Matthew 6:33 (Good News Bible)
When you pause to give thanks to the Lord, peace shows up.
Because in thanksgiving, you remember you are connected to an unshakable Source.
You are not unsupported. You are not overlooked. You are not forgotten.
You are covered. You are carried. You are kept.
✅ Daily Thanksgiving Checklist: To the Lord
Take a moment each day and thank the Lord for:
-
Being Present — when no one else showed up
-
Being Peace — when the noise was too loud
-
Being Provider — beyond your bank account, beyond people
-
Being Protector — from what you saw and what you didn’t
-
Being Promise-Keeper — when others fell short
-
Being the Source — when everyone else was a resource
-
Being the Same — when everything else changed
✨ Thanksgiving Connects You to Peace
Gratitude is more than a feeling. It’s a posture of strength.
Thanksgiving is an act of remembrance.
And when you remember the Lord, you will also remember who you are:
-
Called
-
Covered
-
Cared For
So the next time you feel overwhelmed or under-supported, just say: "Thank You, Lord."
It will shift the room. It will soften your heart. It will settle your mind.
"Be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus."
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Good News Bible)
