Choose to Show Up: Preparation Meets Purpose

Choose to Show Up: Preparation Meets Purpose

By Mary Wells

In this blog post, we explore the moments in life that feel like divine appointments—when everything you’ve been doing in the background is suddenly called forward.

As the school year ended, I was asked a question:
“When are you going to write the Classroom Management Playbook?”

That one question wasn’t just a suggestion—it was confirmation.

It reminded me that what had been cultivated in the dark was now needed to bring light into classrooms.

This was aligned with my gift and purpose.

The Preparation Before the Purpose

For over 20 years, I worked in Corporate America:

✔️ I trained new hires.
✔️ I developed procedures and documentation.
✔️ I led meetings and represented leadership with clarity and compassion.
✔️ I served faithfully behind the scenes—early mornings, late nights—because I knew my work was worship.

That season was preparation.

The last 10 months? That was the assignment.

Peace in Purpose

This assignment wasn’t paid—but it was purposeful.

Every task I completed in education poured from what had been built over decades.
Every moment I gave was an offering.
Every tool I shared was to help others grow and thrive.

And in it all, peace showed up—not because it was easy, but because it was right.

When you use what’s already inside of you, the overflow will bless others.
The result of this work is people becoming better.

The Birth of The SOAR System™

When I chose to say yes to the assignment, it gave birth to the SOAR System™: Classroom Management Playbook & Toolkit.

It’s a digital, practical solution for teachers who need peace and structure in their classrooms.

💡 It’s built from real-world leadership, not theory.
🧩 Uses the Look, Listen & Learn™ Method to create flow in classrooms.
📚 Offers immediately usable tools.
🤝 Helps educators lead with clarity, joy, and purpose.

But it didn’t start out that way.

When I first shared the idea with a trusted educator friend, she asked,
“How much are you selling it for?”
I told her my price, and she paused. Then she said,
“Mary, this is bigger than you realize.”

That moment made me go back and expand the vision.

This toolkit is only the beginning. But teachers need it now—and it’s ready.

Scripture to Reflect On:

📖 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.” — Colossians 3:23
📖 “Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.” — 1 Peter 4:10
📖 “Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you.” — 1 Peter 3:15

These Scriptures are helpful to study and reflect on when determining if a new opportunity is aligned with your purpose and gift—alongside prayer.

✅ Purpose Alignment Checklist

(If you’ve read other blog posts in this series, you know a checklist always helps!)

When you're faced with a decision, ask:

✔️ Does this align with my gift?
✔️ Is it part of my purpose in this season?
✔️ Will it help someone else become better?
✔️ Am I willing to serve even when no one sees it?
✔️ Is peace—not pressure—guiding me to say yes?
