Good Is In Every Thing

We often hurt ourselves by dwelling on the past, missing the good that God is working—even in hard times.
Though life is imperfect, perfection lives in God’s Kingdom, where we are called to trust Him.
“Be joyful always, pray at all times, be thankful in all circumstances.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (GNB)
Yielding your will to God’s opens your heart to see His purpose, even when misunderstood.
I struggled with bad decisions in my past, but God used those seasons to draw me closer and prepare me for His plan.
“God works for good with those who love him.” — Romans 8:28 (GNB)
One powerful way to align with God’s will is through the Model Prayer, taught by Jesus. It reminds us to seek God’s Kingdom and surrender daily:
The Model Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13, GNB)
Our Father in heaven:
May your holy name be honored;
May your Kingdom come;
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need.
Forgive us the wrongs we have done,
As we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.
Do not bring us to hard testing,
But keep us safe from the Evil One.
We can say this prayer as many times as needed and meditate on it daily, letting it shape how we see every circumstance.
But it’s not enough to just study and say the Word — we must put it into practice and be doers of God’s Word, not only hearers. Then we stand out as people see a lifestyle that’s different from the world. Your lifestyle is a testimony that people will see the fruits and benefits from your source, God in Heaven.
“Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.”
— James 1:22 (GNB)
Steps to see the good:
-
Pray, “May your will be done.” (Matthew 6:10)
-
Rejoice always. (1 Thessalonians 5:16)
-
Trust God’s purpose. (Romans 8:28)
-
Live as a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
-
Meditate on the Model Prayer daily—and live it out.
Reflect: What’s one time you saw good after difficulty? Take a moment to write it down. This can be a step toward healing and growth.
