Part 3: Check Your Environment: Renewing Your Identity and Walking in Peace

Part 3: Check Your Environment: Renewing Your Identity and Walking in Peace

By Mary Wells

Opening Reflection

Welcome back to the final part of the Check Your Environment series.

In Part 1, we focused on transition and preparation.
In Part 2, we focused on internal training and renewing the mind.

In this final part, we focus on identity—who you are becoming and how that becomes your way of life.

Because transformation is not only something that happens to you.

It is something you participate in.

And it begins with a decision to be transformed internally.

What I Learned in This Season

I learned that transformation is not passive.

We make the decision to receive what God is revealing internally.

And this is where our relationship with the Holy Spirit becomes essential.

Because the Holy Spirit is our guide, our teacher, and our help on the inside. He leads us into truth and reveals who we are according to God.

And once truth is revealed, we have a choice—to receive it, to agree with it, and to live from it.

Because what we consistently believe internally is what we eventually become externally.

I also learned that life does not just shift in dramatic moments.

It shifts in simple, practical, daily alignment.

Small decisions.
Quiet obedience.
Consistent agreement with truth.

And over time, that becomes your lifestyle.

Not something you visit—but something you live.

Let’s Look at the Scriptures Together

“So God created human beings, making them to be like himself.”
— Genesis 1:27 (GNB)

“Everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected, but everything is to be received with a prayer of thanks.”
— 1 Timothy 4:4 (GNB)

How I Applied This in My Own Life (and how you can too)

In this season, I began to:

  1. Pause and intentionally listen inwardly for what the Holy Spirit was revealing about my identity in this season.
  2. Make choices that aligned with what I was receiving internally, even in small daily decisions.
  3. Release anything that no longer agreed with the peace and truth God was establishing within me.

Because when truth is received internally, it must also be lived externally.

And what begins as intentional becomes consistent.

And what becomes consistent becomes your way of life.

Reader Takeaway

What you agree with internally becomes the life you begin to live externally.
