Serving with Intention: Peace, Purpose, and Encouragement

Serving with Intention: Peace, Purpose, and Encouragement

By Mary Wells

It’s been two months since my last blog post, and I truly appreciate your patience. I know life can get busy, and serving others—whether at home, work, or in your community—can feel overwhelming at times. That’s why I want to speak directly to you today.

Whenever you step into service in a new or intentional way, resistance often shows up. Maybe it’s doubt, fatigue, or uncertainty. But remember this: what matters most is serving with a heart aligned to God’s will, not just trying to do everything perfectly.

There are moments when I have to remind myself: Yes, you can. And this is for you too. Serving isn’t about trying—it’s about doing, about putting your heart into it as unto the Lord and not unto man, because Jesus Christ is the Master we serve.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for human beings.”
Colossians 3:23, Good News Bible

Even when you cannot see the full outcome, trust that God supplies every need. Every talent, every act of kindness, every gift you offer comes from His perfect will. You have what it takes to make a difference in someone’s life.

This season has brought me not one assignment but two, serving families back-to-back. My assignments are where I am planted: as a Teacher and in collaboration with local and out-of-state organizations, offering encouragement through speaking and practical support. Yes, it’s a lot—but I can, and so can you.

You may wonder, “How can I serve when my schedule is full, or when life feels heavy?” The answer is simple: start with what you have, where you are, and with what God has given you. Every small act of encouragement, every thoughtful word, and every effort to lift someone’s spirit matters.

In observance and support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are offering this encouraging quote as a gift—for a Thriver or for yourself. Powerful words like these can speak life and inspire hope in your heart or the heart of someone you care about.

No matter how much you do, remember this: you can do it all, because your anchor and support is the Lord. Let His peace guide your purpose, and let encouragement strengthen your heart as you serve others.

With gratitude to serve,
